Shepperd Strudwick

Shepperd Strudwick (born September 22, 1907 in Hillsboro , North Carolina , † January 15, 1983 in New York City , New York ) was an American actor .

Strudwick received his first film role in 1938 for a short film about Ignaz Semmelweis by Fred Zinnemann . He played his most famous role in 1949 in Robert Rossen's Oscar-winning film adaptation of The Man Who Wished to Rule as Dr. Adam Stanton who shoots the main character Willie Stark ( Broderick Crawford ) at the end of the film. From the 1950s he was mainly active as a television actor. Shepperd Strudwick died at the age of 75 years to cancer .
