Sherman Todd

Sherman Avery Todd (born April 1, 1904 in Buffalo , Wyoming , † June 10, 1979 in Laguna , California ) was an American film editor .

Life

Sherman Todd worked from 1931 as an editor at various film studios in Hollywood . He worked with the directors Sidney Franklin , John Ford and Sam Wood , among others . In 1941, he received his first Oscar nomination in the category Best Editing for Ford's war film The Long Voyage Home ( The Long Voyage Home ). In 1944 he was Woods for Sam Ernest Hemingway film version Whom the Bell Tolls ( For Whom the Bell Tolls ) nominated again. From 1952 he was also often used in US television. He died in Laguna , California in 1979 at the age of 75 .
