John F. Link Sr.

John F. Link senior (born March 22, 1901 in Alabama , † April 8, 1968 in Los Angeles , California ) was an American film editor and film director who was nominated for the Oscar for best editing.

Life

Link began his career in the Hollywood film industry in 1930 with the short film Pick 'Em Young by Monte Carter, which starred Robert Agnew , Mary Hutchinson and Mona Ray .

At the Oscar ceremony in 1944 Link was together with Sherman Todd for the Oscar for Best Editing nomination, namely for Whom the Bell Tolls (For Whom the Bell Tolls, 1943) after the eponymous novel by Ernest Hemingway , the Sam Wood with Gary Cooper , Ingrid Bergman and Katina Paxinou directed.

Link, who worked on the production of 45 films by the end of his career in 1959, directed the crime film Devil’s Cargo (1948) with John Calvert , Rochelle Hudson and Roscoe Karns as well as the Western Call of the Forest (1949) with the Starring Robert Lowery , Ken Curtis and Chief Thundercloud .

His son is the American film editor John F. Link .
