The Sherwood Range is a mountain range in the Canterbury region of the South Island of New Zealand .
geography
The Sherwood Range is located east of Lake Tekapo and the Two Thumb Range , bordered in the northwest by the Sinclair Range , in the northeast by the Ben McLeod Range , in the southeast by the plain to Lake Opuha and in the south by the Albury Range . 13 peaks of the mountain range, which extends over a length of 26 km in a south-southwest-north-northeast direction, have a height of over 2000 m , of which the highest peak, Fox Peak , has a height of 2330 m .
The South Opuha River flows past the southwest flank of the mountains and the North Opuha River rises to the west of the Butler Saddle on the east side of the mountains . The Forest Creek accompanies the mountain range in the northern half on its northwest side.
Administratively, the Sherwood Range is part of the Mackenzie District .
Conservation Park
In the middle of the Sherwood Range , a small western part belongs to the Te Kahui Kaupeka Conservation Park and is administered by the Department of Conservation .
