Shiga ( Japanese 志 賀 町 , - chō ) was a city in Shiga-gun in the Japanese prefecture of Shiga .
history
Shiga emerged on October 1, 1955 from the merger of the Mura Kido ( 木 戸 村 , -mura ), Komatsu ( 小松 村 , -mura ) and Wani ( 和 邇 村 , -mura ).
Already before that there was a Mura of the same name in the same gun , but in a different spelling, which was also used in the name of the gun and the prefecture: Shiga ( 滋 賀 村 , -mura ). However, this Mura was incorporated into Ōtsu as early as 1932 .
On March 20, 2006, the Machi Shiga was also incorporated into Ōtsu. As the previously only remaining community in the Gun, this was then dissolved.
