Shigeru Kanno

Shigeru Kanno ( Japanese 菅 野 茂 , Kanno Shigeru ; born May 3, 1959 in Fukushima , Japan ), spelling Shigeru Kan-no , is a Japanese conductor and composer .

Life

Kanno studied musicology and music theory in Tokyo and Stuttgart . In addition to his main instrument, the piano , he also plays the organ , violin , cello , lyre and drums .

Since 1975 he has conducted a brass band for four years and in 1981 he sat with the Japanese Philharmonic. From 1980 to 1984 he studied music in Tokyo and from 1982 appeared as a pianist with works of new music (including Pierre Boulez , Karlheinz Stockhausen ).

Shigeru Kanno has lived in Europe since 1986. In addition to studying at the Stuttgart University of Music from 1987 to 1992, he has conducted numerous orchestras since then , including the Stuttgart Symphony Orchestra, the Mecklenburg State Orchestra and the Nuremberg Symphony Orchestra . He was conductor for other European orchestras in Portugal, Italy and Uzbekistan.

Shigeru Kanno has composed more than 351 works to date. He prefers large orchestras and writes works for longer performances. His repertoire includes more than 150 operas.

He currently lives as a freelance composer, conductor and church musician in the Westerwald .
