Shiritsu Ebisu Chūgaku ( Japanese 私立 恵 比 寿 中学 , Eng . " Ebisu private middle school ") is a Japanese girls' group. The group's name is officially abbreviated to Ebichu ( エ ビ 中 , Ebichū ), which can also be understood as "in a shrimp ".

history

The group was founded in 2009 by 3B Junior, a project by the talent agency Stardust Promotion . Shiritsu Ebisu Chūgaku is a "little sister" of another girl group from the same agency, Momoiro Clover .

As of March 2012, the group consisted of nine girls.

On March 4, 2012, the group signed a deal with Sony Music Entertainment Japan 's Defstar Records label . His debut major single Karikeiyaku no Cinderella was released on May 5th ( Children's Day in Japan ). The single reached seventh place on the Japanese Oricon Weekly Singles Chart.

On February 7, 2017, Shiritsu Ebisu Chugaku announced that Rina Matsuno could not attend a scheduled performance due to health problems. The following day, at the age of only eighteen, she died of a previously unknown disease.
