Shrooms is a horror / mystery film by director Paddy Breathnach from 2007. It premiered at the Cannes Film Festival and was then released directly on DVD in most countries.
action
American student Tara spends her vacation with some friends in Ireland. There they want to camp in the forest with a friend named Jake and, under his guidance , collect and consume psychoactive mushrooms , so-called shrooms . As Tara moves away from the group, she accidentally eats a mushroom that gives her foreboding abilities.
By the campfire that evening, Jake tells a story of an abandoned orphanage that is said to be not far from the campground. A sadistic monk is said to have tortured and killed children there. One of the children is said to have poisoned his food in revenge for the murder of his brother, whereupon all the children were killed by the monk. The monk and the child are now supposed to sneak around and haunt the forest as ghosts. As the film progresses, Tara's friends die after hallucinations in which their friends are killed by the ghosts.
She is the only survivor to wake up when she is rescued by paramedics. In the ambulance, she realizes that she killed her friends in a frenzy caused by the mushrooms. The film ends with Tara killing the paramedic, escaping from the ambulance and wandering through the forest, confused.
