Siegfried Junghans
Siegfried Junghans (born October 30, 1915 in Stuttgart ; † February 16, 1999 ) was a German prehistoric scientist .
Life
Siegfried Junghans studied from 1935 to 1938 at the universities of Munich, Marburg and Kiel. In 1948 he received his doctorate from the University of Tübingen . He then worked at the Württemberg State Museum in Stuttgart, where he led the reconstruction of its archaeological collections. From 1954 he was chief curator of the Prehistory and Early History Collections and the Collection of Classical Antiquities, and in 1967 he became director of the museum, a post he held until 1978 despite several appointments to museums outside the country. Junghans made a name for itself primarily in the field of archaeometallurgy . Junghans gave rise to the term " Formenkreis Adlerberg-Singen" , from which the name Singener Gruppe was later derived.
