In the following season, 30 point games had to be played because the first GDR League (now only the GDR League) had been increased to 16 teams in two seasons due to the dissolution of the II. The sports club failed to stay up and played in the GDR league again in the future.

Nathow moved after relegation to the upper division Lok Stendal. There he was first used as a striker in 1965/66, but soon returned to the defense. He played 20 league games and scored another goal. In the following two seasons Nathow was used in all 26 league games, but scored no further goals. After the 1967/68 season, Nathow experienced relegation with Lok Stendal for the second time in his league career.

For the 1968/69 season Nathow joined the league team of FC Rot-Weiß Erfurt . There he replaced the retired long-time defender Gerhard Franke . During the GDR league season 1971/72 Nathow was injured for a long time and was only used again at the end when he played a point game and four of the eight promotion games. Red and White won the promotion round and played again in the league in 1972/73. Nathow fought back to his regular position as a defender, completed 22 point games and scored the third goal of his league career. For the 1973/74 season Nathow was only nominated for the squad of the GDR league team Rot-Weiß II. With her he played twelve of the 22 point games, but also helped out in six point games of the league team in the second half of the season.
