Siegfried Rockendorf

Siegfried Rockendorf (born January 5, 1950 in Bad Sachsa ; † December 13, 2000 there ) was a German cook .

Career

After training at the Berghotel Ravensberg from 1965 to 1968, Rockendorf went to the Hilton Hotel (today InterContinental Berlin ). After being sous chef at the Sheraton International in Cairo , he became kitchen director of the Hotel Schweizerhof in Berlin in 1974 .

In 1977 Siegfried Rockendorf passed his master craftsman examination including a trainer qualification examination at the IHK Berlin. The prerequisite for becoming self-employed was thus fulfilled, so that he opened his first restaurant in Berlin-Tegel this year , the Alte Waldschänke . Since 1981 he has been running Rockendorf's restaurant in Berlin-Waidmannslust , where he received his first Michelin star . In 1988 it was awarded two Michelin stars and 19 Gault Millau points .

After the fall of the Wall , the Leysieffer was opened on Kurfürstendamm and then the Ritter zur Linde country house , which he only operated for a short time. In May 2000 he opened the restaurant in a Berlin luxury senior citizens' home.

Siegfried Rockendorf died in December 2000 at a family celebration.
