Siegfriedia darwinioides is the only species of the genus Siegfriedia from the family of the cross thorn plants (Rhamnaceae). The shrub is native to Western Australia. The name of the genus comes from Siegfried , a mythical Germanic hero who, according to the Nibelungen saga, had a cloak of invisibility that hid him. The flower heads of these species are hidden as if by a cloak of invisibility.

Siegfriedia darwinioides is an evergreen, unreinforced shrub . The cross-opposed leaves are rolled up at the leaf edge.

The flowers stand densely in heady, drooping inflorescences , surrounded by a whorl of ten to twelve reddish-brown bracts . One flower cup is missing. The petals are missing. The stamens protrude over the flower, the stamens are around 6 millimeters long. The disc is thin and delicate. The ovary is below, the partial fruits open laterally.

Distribution and systematics

Siegfriedia darwinioides is native to Western Australia. Both species and genus were first described by Charles Austin Gardner in 1933 . Within the buckthorn family, it is classified in the tribe Pomaderreae .
