Siegmar Menz

Siegmar Menz (born May 16, 1950 in Steinbach-Hallenberg ) is a German football coach and manager.

career

Siegmar Menz was active as a footballer at BSG Motor Steinbach-Hallenberg and for DHfK in Leipzig.

In 1973 Menz first became a youth coach at FC Rot-Weiß Erfurt , where he and his team won the FDJ youth trophy in 1974 and the GDR championship with the league youth in 1980. At the end of his career, the captain of the team was the Erfurt veteran Hans-Günter Schröder . In 1981 Menz was first assistant coach of the club's league team before he took over the post of head coach on April 10, 1982. In the 1982/83 season he failed with the Erfurt only because of the poorer goal difference against 1. FC Lokomotive Leipzig to qualify for the UEFA Cup . After the 7th place in the table in the following season, Menz was replaced by Hans Meyer for the 1984/85 season .

In the period that followed, Menz was still active as a manager at the club, but later switched to Chemnitzer FC . Siegmar Menz was a manager at Dynamo Dresden from 2000 to 2008 , and he also runs a sports shop in Erfurt .
