Siemens teaching reactor
The Siemens teaching reactor (SUR) is a zero-power reactor type with a continuous output of 0.1 watts and a peak output of 1 watt, which is used for teaching purposes in academia. Approx. 3.4 kg of uranium enriched to 20% uranium -235 are used as nuclear fuel . Due to the low power, the reactor hardly heats up even in the cleavage zone . Cooling is therefore not necessary. Furthermore, due to the low power, there is almost no burn-up .
