Sigi Feigl

Sigi Feigl (born June 14, 1961 ) is an Austrian jazz musician on saxophone , band leader and concert organizer.

Live and act

Sigi Feigl studied at the Art University Graz in the 1980s, graduating in both classical clarinet and jazz saxophone. In 1980 he founded the Big Band Süd , which existed until 1997 and from whose line Feigl formed the Jazz Big Band Graz in 1999 and directed it until 2003. From 1989 he taught in the jazz department of the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz . He organized the “Monday Nights” concert series at WIST in Graz. In 1986 he also founded the Leibnitz Symphonic Orchestra , which he directed until 2003. From 1993 to 1996 he ran the private music school Sigi Feigl . In 1997 he worked on the album Im Himmel ist der Hölle los der Erste Allgemeine Verunsicherung with.

The Leibnitz Jazz Festival emerged from his concert initiatives in the 1990s, and since 1996 Feigl has organized several hundred cultural events as the director of “Culture in Leibnitz”. From his work at international jazz workshops for musical youth in Croatia, the “HGM Jazz Orkestar Zagreb” emerged in 2003, which he also directed. Feigl received the Great Decoration of Honor of the State of Styria in 2011 .
