Luis Augusto Castro Quiroga IMC (born April 8, 1942 in Bogotá ) is a Colombian religious and emeritus Roman Catholic Archbishop of Tunja .

Life

Luis Augusto Castro Quiroga joined the religious order of Consolata Missionaries and was ordained a priest on December 24, 1967 .

Pope John Paul II appointed him on October 17, 1986 Vicar Apostolic of San Vicente-Puerto Leguízamo and Titular Bishop of Aquae Flaviae . The Apostolic Nuncio in Colombia , Angelo Acerbi , donated him episcopal ordination on November 29 of the same year ; Co- consecrators were Mario Revollo Bravo , Archbishop of Bogotá , and José Luis Serna Alzate IMC, Bishop of Florencia .

On February 2, 1998, he was appointed Archbishop of Tunja. Castro was President of the Colombian Bishops' Conference from 2014 to 2017, and he held this position from 2005 to 2008.

Pope Francis accepted his age-related resignation on February 11, 2020.
