Gabriel Ángel Villa Vahos (born June 17, 1962 in Sopetrán ) is a Colombian clergyman and Roman Catholic Archbishop of Tunja .

Life

Gabriel Ángel Villa Vahos studied at the seminary in Santa Rosa de Osos and was ordained a priest for the diocese of Santa Rosa de Osos on October 25, 1989 . After further studies, he obtained a degree in dogmatics from the Pontifical Gregorian University .

In addition to duties in pastoral care, he was temporarily the rain of the diocesan seminary and episcopal vicar for pastoral care. At the Colombian Bishops' Conference he was the head of the Department for Services. From December 2010 to August 2011 he was diocesan administrator of the diocese of Santa Rosa de Osos during the Sedis vacancy . Since 2011 he has headed the Vocations and Ministries Department of the Latin American Bishops' Council CELAM .

Pope Francis appointed him Bishop of Ocaña on May 15, 2014 . The Apostolic Nuncio in Colombia, Ettore Balestrero , donated his episcopal ordination on July 26th of the same year. Co- consecrators were the Bishop of Santa Rosa de Osos, Jorge Alberto Ossa Soto , and the Archbishop of Medellin , Ricardo Antonio Tobón Restrepo .

Pope Francis appointed him Archbishop of Tunja on February 11, 2020. The inauguration took place on March 24th of the same year.
