Colombian Bishops' Conference
The Colombian Bishops' Conference ( Spanish Conferencia Episcopal de Colombia, CEC ) is the union of the Roman Catholic bishops of all dioceses of Colombia . It was constituted in 1908 in Colombia's capital Bogotá .
In addition to the diocesan bishops , the bishops' conference includes the coadjutors , the diocesan administrators and the auxiliary bishops . Currently (as of August 2017) there are 120 members from the 13 Colombian dioceses . The organization is based with its secretariat in Bogotá in the district of Barrios Unidos . On July 5, 2017, the Colombian bishops elected the Archbishop of Villavicencio , Óscar Urbina Ortega , as their new chairman at their July session in Bogotá .
The first Colombian bishops' conference met in Bogotá on September 14, 1908. Bernardo Herrera Restrepo was its first chairman until 1928.
