Luis Cardinal Concha Córdoba (born November 7, 1891 in Bogotá , Colombia , † September 18, 1975 ibid) was Archbishop of Bogotá .

Life

Luis Concha Córdoba studied in Bogotá, Paris and Rome the subjects Catholic theology and philosophy . When he received the sacrament of ordination through Bernardo Herrera Restrepo on October 28, 1916 , his father José Vicente Concha (es) was the incumbent President of the Republic of Colombia. In the first two years after his ordination, Luis Concha Córdoba worked as a parish chaplain in Bogotá. After further studies, he became a spiritual and lecturer at the Bogotá seminary in 1920 . In 1921 Pope Benedict XV awarded him . the title of private chamberlain to His Holiness . In 1922, Luis Concha Córdoba became a member of the Metropolitan Chapter of Bogotá. In 1933 and 1934 he was a secretary at the diocesan curia . In the following two years he headed the administration of the Archdiocese of Bogotá as vicar general .

In 1935 Pope Pius XI appointed him . to the Bishop of Manizales . He was ordained bishop on November 30, 1935 in Bogotá Ismael Perdomo Borrero , the Archbishop of Bogotá; Co- consecrators were Francisco Cristóbal Toro (es) , Bishop of Antioquia , and Crisanto Luque Sánchez , Bishop of Tunja . In the same place he became archbishop in 1954 with the elevation of the diocese of Manizales to archdiocese . Pope John XXIII appointed him Archbishop of Bogotá in 1959. In the years 1959 to 1972 Luis Concha Córdoba also served as the Colombian military bishop .

In 1961 Pope John XXIII took him. as a cardinal priest with the titular church Santa Maria Nuova in the College of Cardinals . Luis Concha Córdoba took part in the Second Vatican Council from 1962 to 1965 . He resigned the leadership of the Archdiocese of Bogotá in 1972 for reasons of age; his resignation was from Paul VI. granted.

He died on September 18, 1975 in Bogotá and was buried in the metropolitan basilica there.
