The Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Nueva Pamplona ( lat. : Archidioecesis Neo-Pampilonensis , span. : Arquidiócesis de Nueva Pamplona ) is an in Colombia situated Roman Catholic diocese , based in Pamplona .
history
On September 25, 1835, the diocese Nueva Pamplona by Pope Gregory XVI. founded out of the archdiocese of Santafé en Nueva Granada ; the first bishop was José Jorge Torres Estans . On May 29, 1956, Pope Pius XII. the appointment to the archbishopric.
The diocese of Socorro (1895), the Prelature of Río Magdalena (1928), the Prelature of Bertrania en el Catatumbo (1951), the Diocese of Bucaramanga (1952) and the Diocese of Cúcuta (1956) were founded from territorial assignments . The dioceses of Arauca , Cúcuta , Ocaña and Tibú were subordinated as suffragan dioceses .
