The Diocese of Tibu ( lat. : Dioecesis Tibuensis , span. : Diócesis de Tibu ) is an in Colombia situated Roman Catholic diocese based in Tibu .

history

Pope Pius XII founded the territorial prelature Bertrana en el Catatumbo on August 1, 1951 from cession of territory by the diocese of Nueva Pamplona . On April 29, 1956, it lost part of its territory in favor of the establishment of the Apostolic Vicariate Dedza .

On November 16, 1983, it changed its current name. She was raised to the diocese on December 29, 1988, which was subordinated to the Archdiocese of Nueva Pamplona as a suffragan .
