Luis Madrid Merlano (born October 27, 1946 in Cartagena de Indias ) is a Colombian clergyman and emeritus Roman Catholic Archbishop of Nueva Pamplona .

Life

Luis Madrid Merlano was ordained a priest on June 29, 1971 .

Pope John Paul II appointed him prelate of Tibú on May 21, 1988 . The Apostolic Nuncio in Colombia, Archbishop Angelo Acerbi , donated him episcopal ordination on September 9 of the same year ; Co- consecrators were Gustavo Posada Peláez MXY , Vicar Apostolic of Istmina , and Carlos José Ruiseco Vieira , Archbishop of Cartagena .

On April 19, 1995 he was appointed Bishop of Cartago . He was named Archbishop of Nueva Pamplona on March 30, 2010, and was introduced to office on May 22 of the same year.

Pope Francis accepted his early resignation on June 6, 2018.
