Barrios Unidos is the 12th district ( localidad ) in the northwestern part of the Colombian capital city of Bogotá . Its area is 1,189.52 hectares, which corresponds to 1.39 percent of the total area of Bogotá and with a population of about 254,000 people. It is the fifth smallest municipality in Bogotá.
Barrios Unidos is a craft and small and medium-sized business district . So is z. B. the service area auto parts and vehicle repairs strongly represented; Metalworking with workshops in the Barrio Negro district , leather production in Muequetá , marquetry in San Fernando or wooden furniture workshops in Doce de Octubre . There are also lithographic studios.
On the other hand, the district u. a. Activities with various artistic and cultural forms related to the traditional festivals such as Siete de Agosto , Doce de Octubre and Once de Noviembre . It is this diversity of small business groups that cooperate and compete in the same district; this is what Barrios Unidos defines as a diverse economic and cultural cluster and distinguishes it from other urban districts.
