Location of San Cristóbal

San Cristóbal is the 4th district (Spanish localidad ) of the Colombian capital city of Bogotá . The district in the southeast consists of an urban part and a rural extension in the Cerros Orientales ( Eastern Hills ). With 4,816 hectares and 406,025 inhabitants, San Cristóbal is the fifth largest district in Bogotá.

The district got its name from the old Barrio San Cristóbal, when Bogotá was not yet divided into city districts. Traditionally, this district has attracted people of all cultures and races with their customs and traditions and has thus welcomed them from all over the country. San Cristóbal has become one of Colombia's important cultural heritage sites over time. The district is bordered by Santa Fe to the north, Usme to the south, and Rafael Uribe Uribe and Antonio Nariño to the west .

Hydrography

The Río Fucha, also known as Río San Cristobal , is the main water carrier in the area; its source is at 3,500 m in the Eastern Hills. The rivers of the Río Fucha and the Río Tunjuelo are part of the hydrographic system of the Río Bogotá , which always lead to floods due to the accumulation of garbage, excessive rainfall and the lack of a sewage system.
