history

The history of Sumapaz goes back to pre-Columbian times. The neighboring high moors of the Bogota savannah were inhabited by the Chibcha . In the region of the Río Sumapaz Indians from the tribe of the Sutagaos lived, as did subgroups of the Doar and Cundayo. In the area of Tunjuelito and the adjacent moor as well as the river area of the Río Branco the indigenous inhabitants of the Muiscas were at home, who worked the marble , hunted deer and wore cotton blankets. Fugunzua was the original name of Sumapaz during the times when Indians were the only inhabitants of America.
