Ricardo Antonio Tobón Restrepo (born May 8, 1951 in Ituango ) is a Colombian clergyman and Roman Catholic Archbishop of Medellín .

Life

Ricardo Antonio Tobón Restrepo was ordained a priest for the diocese of Santa Rosa de Osos on August 22, 1981 .

Pope John Paul II appointed him Bishop of Sonsón-Rionegro on April 25, 2003 . The Apostolic Nuncio in Colombia , Archbishop Beniamino Stella , donated him episcopal ordination on June 14 of the same year ; Co- consecrators were Germán Garcia Isaza CM , Bishop of Apartadó , and Orlando Antonio Corrales García , Bishop of Palmira . As a motto he chose Venga Tu Reino .

He was named Archbishop of Medellín on February 16, 2010, and was introduced to the office on May 8 of the same year.

On July 6, 2017, he was elected Vice-Chair of the Colombian Bishops' Conference.
