The Diocese of San Vicente del Caguan ( Latin Dioecesis Sancti vincentii , Spanish diócesis de San Vicente del Caguan ) is an in Colombia situated Roman Catholic diocese , based in San Vicente del Caguan .
history
The Apostolic Vicariate of San Vicente-Puerto Leguízamo was established on December 9, 1985 by Pope John Paul II from the cession of territory by the Apostolic Vicariate of Florencia . It lost part of its territory on February 22, 2013 in favor of the establishment of the Apostolic Vicariate of Puerto Leguízamo-Solano .
On May 30, 2019, Pope Francis elevated the Vicariate Apostolic to the rank of diocese and subordinated it to the Archdiocese of Ibagué as a suffragan diocese . Pope Francis made the diocese subject to the Archdiocese of Florencia on July 13 of the same year as a suffragandiocese.
