The Sigmatek GmbH & Co KG (proper spelling SIGMATEK ) is a family-run Austrian company with headquarters in Lamprechtshausen in Salzburg , the international operations in the automation technology operates.

history

The company was founded in 1988 and presented its own PLC , MODAS , with the help of which the first projects in the field of robot control were implemented. Three years later, the company entered the glass industry and injection molding technology . From 1993 Sigmatek used the CAN bus to communicate with its PLC system and received SigmaControl as its first sales partner in the Netherlands. In 1994, six years after the company was founded, the company moved to the new company building for reasons of space.

In 1996, the DIAS control system allowed for the first time a decentralized arrangement of PLC modules and the transmission of up to 2.5 million I / O signals per second. In 2000, the in-house developed LASAL was presented. In the following year, Sigmatek expanded the main plant in Lamprechtshausen to include the Innovation Center .

In 2002 the further development of the control system was presented with C-DIAS , communication takes place with up to 30 million I / Os per second. In 2006 VARAN was presented, for whose development Sigmatek received the Salzburg Economy Innovation Prize. Two years later the company took over the development department of Sdrive and added another building to the factory premises in Lamprechtshausen.

In 2012 the company presented the modular S-DIAS system at the SPS IPC Drives in Nuremberg. In 2015, the DIAS-Drive 1000 followed, a compact drive for controlling up to 6 servo axes . In 2018, another expansion of the company headquarters in Lamprechtshausen was completed.

Companies

Sigmatek offers both total solutions and modular individual components for machine and system builders. Particular attention is paid to scalability and expandability. With LASAL, Sigmatek was the first company in the automation industry to present software for object-oriented programming and is therefore considered a pioneer in this field. In early 2006 VARAN presented a hard real-time capable Ethernet - bus system , which was specially developed for use in industrial automation.

The development and production site in Lamprechtshausen was expanded further over the years. With around 420 employees, the majority of the 500 employees worldwide work at the headquarters. The company has been family-owned since it was founded in 1988 by Andreas Melkus, Theodor Kusejko and Marianne Kusejko. Alexander Melkus has been part of the management team since May 2017.

Locations

Three years after the company was founded, SIGMATEK GmbH Germany was founded in 1991, the first branch outside of Austria. The first location outside of Europe was created in 2001 in Ohio, USA. Subsequently, the SIGMATEK Ningbo Office was established in China in 2007, before a branch was opened in Switzerland a year later. In the same year the development department was taken over by Sdrive. Since 2012 there has been a second location in Austria with the development office in Vienna. A subsidiary in Great Britain followed in 2013, and one in Korea in 2016.

Today Sigmatek has 8 locations and 15 sales partners worldwide.
