Signe Marie Stray Ryssdal (1972)

Signe Marie Stray Ryssdal (born July 22, 1924 in Tromøy as Sigrid Marie Stray, † May 18, 2019 ) was a Norwegian lawyer and politician of the social liberal party Venstre . She was most recently 1984-1994 Fylkesmann the former province of Aust-Agder .

Life

Signe Marie Stray Ryssdal is the daughter of two lawyers, Christian and Sigrid Stray , who were admitted to the bar at the Norwegian Supreme Court . Both her father and mother were politically active. Ryssdal graduated from school in 1943 and began studying law at the University of Oslo after the Second World War . In 1948 she spent a semester in The Hague . From 1950 she worked in various positions as a lawyer. From 1956 to 1972 she had her own law firm in Oslo . In 1960, like her parents, she was admitted to the bar at the Supreme Court. She campaigned for legal equality between women and men in various state bodies.

Ryssdal was Vararepresentantin for the constituency of Oslo for two legislative periods from 1965 to 1974, i.e. a substitute member of the Norwegian parliament, the Storting . However, she was not used as a permanent member of parliament. Between 1968 and 1972 she was a member of the Oslo City Council. In 1972 she became Sosialrådmann in Oslo, head of the social department of Oslo Municipality. She remained in this office until 1984. She then took over the post of Fylkesmann von Aust-Agder von Ebba Lodden , which she carried out for ten years before she retired.

She was married to the lawyer Rolv Ryssdal (1914-1998). She had three children with him.
