Signe from Rappe
Signe von Rappe (born September 24, 1879 in Stockholm ; † May 21, 1974 ibid) was a Swedish opera singer ( soprano ).
Life
Signe von Rappe was a daughter of the Swedish Lieutenant General and Minister of War Axel Emil Rappe . She studied with Thekla Hofer at the Royal Music Academy in Stockholm . From 1904 to 1906 she continued her vocal training first with Therese Behr-Schnabel , then with Elka Gerster .
She made her debut in 1906 at the Royal Stockholm Opera as Pamina. This was followed by engagements at the Hoftheater Mannheim and the Vienna Court Opera as well as guest performances in Paris , the Berlin Court Opera and at the Royal Opera House Covent Garden in London . In addition to her work on the opera stage, she had a great career in the concert hall. She was considered an excellent Bach singer. After finishing her singing career, she worked as a music pedagogue and singing teacher in Stockholm.
