Sigrid Kupsch-Losereit

Sigrid Kupsch-Losereit (born January 2, 1942 in Dortmund ) is a German philologist and translation scholar . Until her retirement in 2005, she was a lecturer in the Department of Translation, Linguistics and Cultural Studies at Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz in Germersheim .

Life

Kupsch-Losereit studied German , Romance studies and philosophy in Heidelberg , Bonn , Tours and Caen from 1961 to 1966 . She received her doctorate in 1969 from the University of Heidelberg on the poetry of the French symbolists. From 1970 to 1972 she worked as a DAAD lecturer at the University of Reims , then as a lecturer at the Department of Translation, Linguistics and Cultural Studies (FTSK) at Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz in Germersheim . From 1973 to 2005 she took part in meetings and international conferences and taught within the framework of international EU programs ( Erasmus , Socrates etc.) at universities in Bordeaux , Paris , Prague and Antwerp

Sigrid Kupsch-Losereit worked as a lecturer at the Department of Translation, Linguistics and Cultural Studies together with Hans G. Hönig and Paul Kussmaul , among others . Her studies focused primarily on the translation process and the cultural embedding of the translation of the source text in the target text. In doing so, she contributed to the development of the functional model of translation studies .
