Sigurður Einarsson í Holti
Sigurður Einarsson í Holti (born October 29, 1898 in Arngeirsstaðir í Fljótshlíð ; † February 23, 1967 in Holt ) was an Icelandic writer , politician and Evangelical Lutheran theologian .
Life
Sigurður was the son of a farmer. He studied theology in Reykjavík from 1922 to 1926 , then became a pastor and later a lecturer at the Icelandic School of Education . Because of his political positions, he was known as the "red pastor". In 1930 he published a volume of poetry with the title Hamar og sigð ( Hammer and Sickle ). Later he turned to social democracy . From 1934 to 1937 he was a member of the Icelandic parliament Althing for the Social Democratic Party of Iceland .
From 1937 to 1944 Sigurður was a lecturer at the University of Iceland . In 1946 he moved to Holt in the province of Suðurland , where he settled as a pastor.
Sigurður also translated several novels and worked as a news editor for the radio.
