details

The ro-ro special ship was built at the Nouvelles des Atlantiers & Chantiers du Havre shipyard in Le Havre. After ownership changed to the shipping company Rederiaktiebolaget Gotland from Stockholm on July 9, 2003, the ship was transferred to Svensk Kärnbränslehantering AB (SKB) on March 1, 2005, the ship management continues to be carried out by Rederiaktiebolaget Gotland.

The Sigyn is for the transport of containers with radioactive waste and in this context fulfills the SOLAS - IAEA convention for the safe transport of radioactive waste. The ship is also equipped for heavy cargo.

The ship is named after Sigyn , a goddess from Norse mythology .
