Siim-Valmar Kiisler (born November 6, 1965 in Tallinn , Estonian SSR ) is an Estonian politician . He belongs to the conservative Isamaa party (formerly Isamaa ja Res Publica Liit ).

Life

Siim-Valmar Kiisler graduated from high school in Tallinn in 1984. He then studied at the Tallinn University of Technology . In 1991 he took his exam in automated piping systems . From 1995 to 2003 Siim-Valmar Kiisler was chairman of the supervisory board of Glacier Eesti AS .

politics

From 1999 to 2001 he was mayor of the Tallinn city center district . In 1999 and 2002/2003 he was a member of Tallinn City Council. From 2003 to 2007 he was a member of the Estonian Parliament ( Riigikogu ). In 2007 he was appointed Deputy Minister of Economy and Infrastructure of the Republic of Estonia.

On January 22, 2008, Siim-Valmar Kiisler became regional minister in Prime Minister Andrus Ansip's cabinet . He succeeded Vallo Reimaa , who had to give up his office after internal party disputes. Kiisler's area of ​​responsibility mainly included public administration in Estonia. With the end of the center-right government under Prime Minister Ansip in March 2014, he left the cabinet.

After the 2015 election , Kiisler became vice chairman of his party in the Riigikogu in 2016 . On June 12, 2017, he was appointed Environment Minister in the Ratas I cabinet to succeed Marko Pomerants . In the 2019 parliamentary elections , he was unable to win a mandate and was no longer considered a minister. It was not until the death of his party colleague Mart Nutt that Kiisler moved up as a member of parliament again in June 2019.
