The Silay is the northernmost volcano on the island of Negros , it is located 28 km east of Silay City in the Marapara Mountains of the Negros Occidental Province of the Philippines .

The stratovolcano reaches a height of 1,510 meters above sea level , its base diameter is given as 20 km. The rock of the volcano is characterized as basaltic andesite . It has a 3.5 km caldera and is classified as a volcano active in the Holocene , but there are no known eruptions of the Silay.

The Malisbog solfatara field is evidence of the volcano's fumarolic activity and has large sulfur deposits. For this reason, the Silay is classified as "potentially active".

The Silay is one of the core zones of the Northern Negros Natural Park , which is home to numerous endemic animal species that are threatened with extinction, such as the Visayas pustular pig ( Sus cebifrons ) and the Prince Alfred deer ( Cervus alfredi ).
