Silver amide is an inorganic chemical compound of silver from the group of amides .

Extraction and presentation

Silver amide can be obtained by reacting silver nitrate with potassium amide in ammonia .

properties

Silver amide is a white crystalline solid which, when dried, shrinks to a dark, partly black colored mass. When dry, the compound is extremely explosive. When cooling to –190 ° C, the explosiveness of the substance hardly changes. Exposure to light causes a dark color, high-energy radiation (lightning) causes detonation.
