Silberkaule is a district in the Asselborn district of Bergisch Gladbach .

history

The name Silberkaule refers to an earlier mine that originally dug for silver. Numerous pings in the area still testify to an at least medieval mining , which can also be older. In the first half of the 19th century, the name Silberkaule was already used in the name of In der Silber Kaule . In 1905 there were three buildings with 17 residents.

Silberkauler Siefen

The Silberkauler Siefen also got its name from the former mining company with its water flowing into the Dürschbach .

Mining

Since 1853 mining has been intensive here. The mine has been called the Washington Pit since that time . The plant was closed in 1912 because supplies were exhausted.
