Braunsberg is a district in the districts of Herkenrath (up to house number 20 on the even side and up to 19 on the odd side) and Asselborn (from house number 22 on the even side and from 25 on the odd side) of Bergisch Gladbach .

history

Braunsberg is on the road from Herkenrath to Dürscheid . According to the original cadastre , it is an early modern settlement with the original name Brüngsberg .

According to the overview of the government district of Cöln , the place categorized as “farm goods” had two houses in 1845. At that time, twelve people lived in the village, all of them Catholic. In 1905 there were ten residential buildings with 57 residents in Braunsberg. The Middle High German word " brunnech " (= land swamped by springs) could have an etymological reference to the place name, especially since the area lies between two streams.
