Silke Bosbach (* 20th century) is a German artist and author .

life and work

Silke Bosbach studied fine arts at the University of Cologne . In addition, she trained as a textile designer . Since 1985 she has been involved in textile art and design for foulards, interiors, couture, sacred art, trade fair and stage decorations, and has created greeting card designs for UNICEF Germany and Switzerland.

Bosbach was a lecturer at an independent art academy. She is a course leader and specialist lecturer in the field of contemporary art and has written books on the fields of art, craft and design. Her book Modernes Shibori from 2010 on the traditional Japanese handicraft technique, in which new patterns are created by binding, compressing, folding and then dyeing textile materials, was published in 2011 in English translation. Silke Bosbach works three-dimensionally with wool. Her crocheted and knitted "soft sculptures and sculptures" contradict the conventional understanding of sculpture, which prefers hard materials.

Silke Bosbach developed the "Textiles Land Art ". In 2011 she announced the 1st Textile Outdoor Award under the topic of guerrilla knitting . For this art campaign, she was awarded the Insider Award at Paperworld 2012.

She has been implementing the Textile Outdoor Award on a voluntary basis since 2011 .
