Silum is an alp of 40.7 ha in size - 24 ha of which is productive pasture area - with 56 grazing rights owned by the alpine cooperative of the same name in the municipality of Triesenberg in the Principality of Liechtenstein . The alp extends from 1400 to 1700 m above sea level. M . It developed from scattered Walser settlements in the Middle Ages into a hamlet. The name Silum (Salum) is probably of Rhaeto-Romanic origin and should be interpreted in this context as " Hofstatt , Grund, Boden".

The hamlet of Silum was purchased by the Triesners for 300 florins ( guilders ) on February 15, 1611, at that time still a Maiensäss from five citizens of Triesenberg . The settlement has changed little since then, the alpine huts have been rebuilt. Since then, Silums has been managed as a cooperative alp. The Triesenberg – Masescha road built in 1874/75 was extended to Silum in 1880/81. In 1910 the Alp was devastated by 25 landslides after heavy rainfall.

The most important building in Silum is the Kurhaus, which was built from 1914 to 1919 by Franz Xaver Beck, landlord of the Gasthof Schäfle, from Triesz and opened in 1920. In the 1930s it was leased to the Almbruderschaft and later to Egon Beck (Samina host). From 1938 the spa house was again run by the Beck family and the Eggenberger family.

Eugen Zotow lived with his wife in Liechtenstein from 1938, also lived on Silum in the summer of the 1940s and painted some pictures of this hamlet. In 1939 Prince Franz Josef II awarded the German Heinrich Georg Stahmer the title "Count of Silum".

In 1968 an avalanche protection barrier was built on the side of the lamina and the connection to the Triesenberg water supply was established.
