Silvia Irina Zimmermann (born November 4, 1970 in Sibiu , Romania ) is a German-Romanian literary historian, writer and translator. She is the initiator and co-founder of the Carmen Sylva research center at the Fürstlich Wiedisches Archiv in Neuwied .

Live and act

After attending the educational high school in Sibiu, Zimmermann studied German and English at the Lucian Blaga University there from 1990 to 1992 . In 1992 she moved to the Philipps University of Marburg , where she studied literature , English, art history and sociology . She completed her studies in 1996 with a Magister Artium and received her doctorate in literature in 2003.

After training as an academically certified PR consultant at Danube University Krems in 2008, Zimmermann founded the Carmen Sylva research center at the Fürstlich Wiedisches Archiv in Neuwied in 2012 together with the historian and archive manager Hans-Jürgen Krüger and Carl Fürst zu Wied honorary leadership. Here Zimmermann, together with the historian Edda-Binder-Iijima, is responsible for the publication of the research center's series of publications.

Awards

In 2013 Zimmermann was awarded the Medalia Regele Mihai I pentru Loialitate (Medal of Loyalty to King Michael I of Romania).
