Silvia Nossek

Silvia Nossek (born September 15, 1964 ) is an Austrian politician . She was state spokeswoman for the Vienna Green Party , chairwoman of the Vienna Green Education Center and has been the district head of the 18th district of Währing in Vienna since December 17, 2015 .

Life

Nossek grew up in the Weinviertel and studied mathematics and history at the University of Vienna (Master's degree). From the late 1990s she worked as an organizational consultant.

She has lived in Währing since the late 1980s and joined the Währing Greens in 1989. She ran for the Währinger Greens in the district council elections in Vienna in 1991 and was elected district councilor in 1991. In the same year she took over the function of the club chairwoman and achieved a slight plus in the district representative election in Vienna in 1996 with the Währinger Greens. In 1999 she changed her profession and was about to start an apprenticeship, which is why she resigned from her mandate as a district councilor and as a club chairwoman in Währing. From 2004 she was again very involved with the Wiener Grünen and between 2004 and 2010 was a board member of the Green Educational Workshop in Vienna. From 2009 to 2010 she was also the chairwoman of the Green Education Workshop. In 2009 she ran for the highest intra-party office of the Vienna Greens at the state assembly of the Vienna Greens and was elected state spokeswoman with 51.1 percent. She held this office between June 21, 2009 and June 17, 2012 and did not stand for the next election of the country spokesman for this function. Rather, she was elected by the Währinger Greens in 2013 as spokeswoman and top candidate for the district council election in Vienna in 2015 . In the election, the Währing Greens were able to become the party with the strongest vote for the first time, Silvia Nossek has been Währing's district chairman since December 17, 2015 (elected with 23 of 39 votes in the district council).
