Silvia Schön (born July 30, 1959 in Bremen ) is a German politician ( Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen ) and was a member of the parliament and since 2011 Vice-President of the Bremen Parliament .

Life

education and profession

Schön studied biology at the University of Bremen and the University of Strasbourg and worked as a freelance journalist in the fields of science, medicine and technology. In 1989 and 1990 she was then managing director of the green district council and city council group in Unna and from 1990 to 2003 managing director of Bremer Umweltberatung e. V. In addition, she was an expert for environmental projects in Turkey and the Middle East and, from 1991 to 1995, a consultant for industrial safety and environmental protection campaigns for IG Metall .

politics

In the 1970s, Schön was involved in the Bremen citizens' initiative against atomic energy plants and was a member of the student body. From 1982 to 1984 she was chairwoman of the AStA at the University of Bremen. She was the spokeswoman for the Federal Working Group of Greens and Trade Unions from 1989 to 1993. From 1995 to 1999 she was a member of the Eastern Suburbs Advisory Board and from 1996 to 2000 a board member of the Heinrich Böll Foundation in Bremen. In 2000/2001 she was a member of the state board of Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen and was the state board spokeswoman for her party from 2001 to 2003.

From 2003 to 2015 Schön was a member of the Bremen citizenship. She was represented in the Committee for Science, Media, Data Protection and Freedom of Information (Chair), Budget and Finance Committee (City), Audit Committee (State and City), Constitutional and Rules of Procedure Committee and on the Board of the Bremen Citizenship as well as in the State Deputation for Education and in the subcommittee on vocational training.

Schön advocates equal educational opportunities regardless of social origin, the strengthening of the cities of Bremen and Bremerhaven as a science location and the creation of ecologically sustainable jobs. The termination of the primate experiments at the University of Bremen is of great importance to them.

She has been a member of the Board of Trustees of the Alfred Wegener Institute Helmholtz Center for Polar and Marine Research in the Helmholtz Society since 2012 .
