Blind Simmie Dooley

Simeon Dooley (born July 3, 1881 in Hartwell , Georgia , † January 17, 1961 in Spartanburg , South Carolina ), known as Blind Simmie Dooley , was an American blues singer and guitarist. Blind Gary Davis called him one of the greatest country blues guitarists alongside Blind Blake and Blind Willie Davis .

Dooley taught Pink Anderson to play the guitar and performed with him. The two played on the streets and at parties when Anderson wasn't with Dr. Kerr's Medicine Show was on the way.

In 1928 Dooley and Anderson recorded four tracks in Atlanta for Columbia Records ; two were released in the same year and the others the following year. The records sold well.

Anderson was invited to further recordings, Dooley not; However, Anderson refused to record without Dooley.
