Communities Simo

The Simojoki is a river in northern Finland . It has its origin in Lake Simojärvi in the municipality of Ranua and flows into the Gulf of Bothnia near Simo . With a length of 193 kilometers, it is the tenth longest river in Finland.

The river, left in its natural state, is shallow and has numerous rapids. At its lower reaches it is between 70 and 150 meters wide. The Simojoki is home to a large wild salmon population , which makes it a popular area for amateur anglers.
