Simon Baumgarten (born September 6, 1985 in Göppingen ) is a German handball player . His current association is the TVB 1898 Stuttgart . The 1.93-meter circle runs with the number 14 on the back.

Simon Baumgarten grew up in Wißgoldingen and attended secondary school in the main town of Waldstetten . At the age of five he began playing handball at TV Wißgoldingen. Until he was 15, Baumgarten was active as a swimmer in the Bundesliga with the Schwäbisch Gmünd swimming club. In 2001 he moved to TSV Süßen. From 2002 to 2004 Baumgarten played for the national division SG Lauter. For the 2004/05 season he moved to the Regionalliga promoted TV Bittenfeld. From 2005 to 2007 Baumgarten was entitled to play with the Bundesliga club Frisch Auf Göppingen via a second game right . In the 2005/2006 season he rose with the TVB as a regional league champion in the 2nd Bundesliga . In the 2010/2011 season , Baumgarten and TVB took fourth place in the southern season of the 2nd Bundesliga, which entitles them to participate in the newly established single-track 2nd handball Bundesliga . At the end of the 2014/15 season he was promoted to the Bundesliga with the TVB. Since the 2015/16 season , Baumgarten has been playing in the Bundesliga with the club now operating under the name TVB 1898 Stuttgart . At the end of the 2018/19 season he ended his professional career after 138 Bundesliga games (226 goals) and switched to the 2nd team of the TVB. From the summer of 2020 Baumgarten will be playing for the Württemberg club VfL Waiblingen , where he will also work as an athletic trainer and sports director.

In 2006 Baumgarten was awarded the sports merit plaque of the city of Waiblingen for special services to sport .

Baumgarten completed an apprenticeship as a social security clerk at the Gmünder Ersatzkasse . He currently works as an administrative clerk at the city of Waiblingen. In August 2015 he also founded his own company together with Timo Kalbantner. There, small group training in the functional area and physiotherapy are offered.
