Simon Bornmeister

Simon Bornmeister (born May 31, 1632 in Nuremberg ; † December 8, 1688 ibid) was a German Lutheran theologian and poet of hymns.

Life

After graduating from the University of Altdorf in 1654 , he worked as a teacher at several schools in his hometown of Nuremberg. Among other things, he was rector of the hospital school. In 1683 he switched to the Sebalderschule. In 1687 he became a professor of history at the Egidiengymnasium .

Bornmeister was a crowned member of the Pegnese Flower Order . He published 80 spiritual songs, some of which were present in church services well into the 19th century.
