Simon Brodkin

Simon Brodkin (born September 27, 1977 in the London Borough of Camden , England ) is a British comedian .

Career

Prior to his comedian career, Brodkin studied medicine and became a doctor at the University of Manchester .

In 2006 Simon Brodkin performed his first solo show ( Everyone But Himself ) at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe . He also appears in various roles, including Lee Nelson , as whose person he interacts with the audience and embodies ignorance and various clichés. Other characters are Jason Bent , an unintelligent soccer player, and the incompetent doctor Dr. Bob .

After criticizing an anti-Semitic joke, Brodkin admitted that he was himself a Jew and that his relatives had died for the joke.

In 2003 Brodkin had several short appearances in the series From Baghdad To Balham , in which he played a recently immigrated Iraqi asylum seeker. In the same year he also made two appearances on the BBC program Absolutely Fabulous . Two years later, he played Lee Nelson again in three episodes of Channel 4's The Morning After Show .

In 2007, he appeared several times on the sketch show Al Murray's Multiple Personality Disorder . The following year he made several appearances on the BBC-3 programs The Wall . In addition, Brodkin took part in 2011 and 2013 Brodkin in the BBC show Let's Dance . In 2013 he also appeared on John Bishop's Christmas Show on BBC One.

Controversy

In March 2013, Brodkin, in his role as Jason Bent , ran onto the pitch ahead of a Premier League match between Manchester City and Everton FC to attend the Manchester City players' warm-up program. The following year he mingled with the players of the English squad for the 2014 World Cup at Luton Airport , but was removed after a short time.

At Glastonbury Festival 2015, he ran on stage during a Kanye West concert and was again removed from security. That same year, on July 20, 2015, he appeared in front of Sepp Blatter at a FIFA press conference and handed him a wad of banknotes, stating that these were in favor of North Korea's candidacy to host the 2026 World Cup . While he was being brought out by the security service, he threw a second wad of money at Sepp Blatter.

At the Geneva Motor Show in 2016, alluding to the cheat software affair, he made fun of the automaker Volkswagen with a symbolic "cheat box".

During the Conservative Party conference on October 4, 2017, Brodkin took the stage where Prime Minister Theresa May gave a speech. Brodkin presented May with a P45 application and shortly afterwards was escorted by security personnel from the hall with "out" calls.
