Simon Nicol

Simon John Breckenridge Nicol (born October 13, 1950 in Muswell Hill, London Borough of Haringey ) is an English folk rock singer, guitarist and dulcimer player .

In 1967 Nicol was part of the founding cast of Fairport Convention , where he was front man after Richard Thompson's departure in 1971. Nicol was a member of the band except for short periods from 1972 to 1976 and since 1978. In the early 1970s he also began to play with the Albion Country Band , and later with the Albion Band . He also made records with a wide variety of folk artists, including Art Garfunkel , Al Stewart , John Martyn , Beth Nielson Chapman and Julie Covington , and toured with Dave Swarbrick .

In 1984 Nicol's solo debut Close to the Wind was released , followed by Before Your Time (1986) and Consonant Please Carol (1992).
