Simon Njami

Simon Njami (born January 4, 1962 in Lausanne ) is a Paris- based author , curator and art critic .

Career

Njami was born in Switzerland in 1962; his parents are both from Cameroon .

He organized a large number of exhibitions on contemporary art from Africa, especially Africa Remix (2004), the African pavilion at the Venice Biennale (together with Fernando Alvim , 2007) and the Joburg Art Fair in 2008. From 2001 to 2003 he was artistic director of the group Rencontres de la Photographie Africainen and since 2001 director of the Bamako Photography Biennale .

He is also a consultant for the Association Française d'Action Artistique , is a co-founder of the magazine Revue Noire and has published titles such as Coffin and Co. and Flash Afrique! .
